I provide support in cultivating awareness of current habits & making sustainable changes to your nutrition, movement, and self-care behaviors without obsessing over the scale and/or food.
Build awareness of current nutrition and wellness habits.
Understand your relationship with food & dieting history.
Determine your unique (non-scale related) goals.
Work together to formulate a specific & actionable plan to reach those goals.
Remove obstacles that prevent you from reaching your goals.
Celebrate every win!
We will use a secure video chat platform for our sessions. You will click the video chat button in your patient portal for our session (super easy!). We will discuss back up options for our sessions should we have any technical difficulties. Our initial session is 1 hour, and follow up sessions are 45-50 minutes. It is recommended to have a private, quiet space for our sessions. For some clients, this means going into their car if needed!
All new clients complete an initial assessment prior to scheduling regular follow up sessions. Your card on file will be charged at the time of service if you will not be using accepted insurance.
Private pay rate:
Initial Assessment (60 minutes) - $180
Follow Up Session (50 minutes) - $150
Tula Wellness is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and AETNA. Email hello@tulawellnessjourney.com if you would like to get your benefits checked as a courtesy. Many clients with BCBS have 30 visits per year 100% covered! I also accept HSA/FSA cards for payment. If you have another health insurance, I am more than happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement for our sessions. The superbill does not guarantee reimbursement.
I recommend calling your insurance company to inquire about your in and out of network coverage. Call the member services number on the back of your card and ask:
1. Does my plan cover out of network outpatient nutrition counseling? (codes: 97802 and 97803)
2. If yes, how many sessions are allowed?
3. Does my plan only cover visits that are “medically necessary”? or does it also cover preventive services? (code: Z71.3)
4. Does my plan cover Telehealth for nutrition counseling? (location code: 02 or 10)
5. Do I have a deductible to meet first?
6. If yes, how much is my deductible?
7. How much of the deductible have I met?
8. Do I have a copay for outpatient nutrition counseling?
9. Do I need a physician referral?
Record the representative’s name and a reference # when checking your benefits. This information will be necessary if you ever need to dispute a rejected claim.
Most clients see improvement in their health behaviors / nutrition care in 3 months. Just like any habit, making changes in our nutrition and health behaviors takes time and most of the work happens outside our sessions by implementing what we discuss in session. Typically clients meet with me weekly or biweekly to begin (for the first month or two) and then are more comfortable spreading sessions out as needed. I have some clients who work with me for 3 months, and some who work with me for years. It is totally individualized!
