I work 1:1 with individuals who want to pursue health & wellbeing from a Health At Every Size approach, using Intuitive Eating and mindfulness as a framework.

I provide support in cultivating awareness of current habits & making sustainable changes to your nutrition, movement, and self-care behaviors without obsessing over the scale and/or food.

We will work together to:

Build awareness of current nutrition and wellness habits.

Understand your relationship with food & dieting history.

Determine your unique (non-scale related) goals.

Work together to formulate a specific & actionable plan to reach those goals.

Remove obstacles that prevent you from reaching your goals.

Celebrate every win!

How Nutrition Counseling Works

Frequently asked questions

How does virtual nutrition counseling work?

We will use a secure video chat platform for our sessions. You will click the video chat button in your patient portal for our session (super easy!). We will discuss back up options for our sessions should we have any technical difficulties. Our initial session is 1 hour, and follow up sessions are 45-50 minutes. It is recommended to have a private, quiet space for our sessions. For some clients, this means going into their car if needed!

How Does Payment Work?

All new clients complete an initial assessment prior to scheduling regular follow up sessions. Your card on file will be charged at the time of service if you will not be using accepted insurance.

Private pay rate:
Initial Assessment (60 minutes) - $180
Follow Up Session (50 minutes) - $150

Do you take insurance?

Tula Wellness is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and AETNA. Email hello@tulawellnessjourney.com if you would like to get your benefits checked as a courtesy. Many clients with BCBS have 30 visits per year 100% covered! I also accept HSA/FSA cards for payment. If you have another health insurance, I am more than happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement for our sessions. The superbill does not guarantee reimbursement.

I recommend calling your insurance company to inquire about your in and out of network coverage. Call the member services number on the back of your card and ask:
1. Does my plan cover out of network outpatient nutrition counseling? (codes: 97802 and 97803)

2. If yes, how many sessions are allowed?

3. Does my plan only cover visits that are “medically necessary”? or does it also cover preventive services? (code: Z71.3)

4. Does my plan cover Telehealth for nutrition counseling? (location code: 02 or 10)

5. Do I have a deductible to meet first?

6. If yes, how much is my deductible?

7. How much of the deductible have I met?

8. Do I have a copay for outpatient nutrition counseling?

9. Do I need a physician referral?

Record the representative’s name and a reference # when checking your benefits. This information will be necessary if you ever need to dispute a rejected claim.

How long will we work together & how often will we meet?

Most clients see improvement in their health behaviors / nutrition care in 3 months. Just like any habit, making changes in our nutrition and health behaviors takes time and most of the work happens outside our sessions by implementing what we discuss in session. Typically clients meet with me weekly or biweekly to begin (for the first month or two) and then are more comfortable spreading sessions out as needed. I have some clients who work with me for 3 months, and some who work with me for years. It is totally individualized!

“Callan is the best nutritionist I’ve ever had! She makes sure that I am comfortable with whatever choices she recommends and she has helped me so much with meal planning and changing my thought process on eating habits and self image! It’s like talking to a good friend when I meet with her.”

M. M.

"I want to thank you again for all of the care and assistance you have provided for me. I am doing so much better and really thriving with adding more plants to my diet, frequent eating, and adding bulk and nutritious foods to my meals! The insight and advice you shared has really been invaluable for me, so thank you for your expertise, patience, and abundance of resources!"

Val A.

“Callan provided me with the knowledge and tools to help me get back on the track of mindful eating. Her solid educational and work background shaped our sessions, but I felt no shame or guilt thanks to her warm personality. Most of all, I thank her for her patience, and recommend her for making my individual needs the focus of our work together. I look forward to continuing our work together, knowing she's in my corner whenever I need help."

I. H.

"Somehow, even being new and highly imperfect with this process, my body has started really changing in ways that help me feel more comfortable in my skin. My clothes are fitting comfortably again, and I even went clothes shopping to allow myself more to play with. I just feel a lighter energy around food and my appearance all together. Thank you so much for helping me with this! It's been very eye opening and liberating. "
